Second Place Among Medical Universities in Iran in Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025
According to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS):
Professor Zohreh Rahimi stated that in the latest report of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences has proudly achieved second place among Iran's medical universities—a remarkable position that reflects the university's rapid progress in the fields of science, research, and innovation.

According to the ranking, KUMS was placed 121st in Asia, securing a distinguished spot among the top universities in the region.
Additionally, Tehran University of Medical Sciences ranked 109th, and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences ranked 154th, earning the first and third positions respectively among Iran's medical universities.
The presence of 81 Iranian universities in this ranking clearly highlights the dynamism and remarkable growth of Iran's higher education system across Asia.
At the regional level, China remains at the top of Asian universities, holding five out of the top ten positions. Leading universities from Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong are also featured among the top institutions in this ranking.
The Times Higher Education ranking system, one of the most credible and influential global university assessment frameworks, evaluated 853 universities from 35 Asian countries in 2025 based on 17 specific indicators within the following five main categories:
- Teaching (24.5%)
- Research (28%)
- Citations (30%)
- Industry Income (10%)
- International Outlook (7.5%)
In the analytical section of this report, citations were emphasized as a key indicator for assessing the quality of research. This metric was based on citations of scholarly articles published between 2019 and 2023, and an interdisciplinary normalization process was applied to ensure fairness across different academic fields.
